Human Rights Activists: Russia's Recognition of Taliban Violates International Law

The union stated on Friday (13 Saratan) in a statement that recognizing a criminal group like the Taliban is a clear violation of international laws.

Human rights activists, warning about the consequences of Russia’s decision, added: “If tomorrow terrorism takes root in the heart of Moscow, history will write that Russia itself opened the door to it.”

They emphasized that recognizing a group that has come to power through force, terror, and suppression is contrary to international principles and standards.

Human rights activists, while condemning this action, called for an immediate review of the Russian government’s decision. They also urged international human rights organizations not to remain silent in the face of Russia’s recognition of the Taliban regime.

The Union of Human Rights Activists states that the recognition of the Taliban by Russia violates the United Nations Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and all international commitments regarding the protection of civilians, especially women, girls, and oppressed ethnic and religious minorities.
