France and Portugal officially recognize Palestine

Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, confirmed this action, describing it as part of a "comprehensive peace plan" that should ensure the security of Israelis and peace for Palestinians.

According to the Élysée Palace, France, along with nine other countries, will recognize Palestine.

The French government's statement reads: "Israel's annexation of the West Bank is a red line," and the recognition of Palestine is a response to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the deadlock in the political process in recent months.

Meanwhile, the Portuguese Foreign Ministry has also announced that on Sunday, September 21, it will recognize the State of Palestine.

Australia, Canada, and Belgium have also stated that they will take similar action, recognizing Palestine during the United Nations General Assembly meeting.

The Élysée Palace has announced that France will recognize the State of Palestine on Monday meetings related to the United Nations in New York.
