Human Rights Activists Union calls for Taliban to be tried for widespread human rights violations

The union made these remarks on Friday, 4th of Mizan, on the occasion of the 5th of Mizan, the anniversary of Afghanistan's membership in the United Nations.

In its statement, the Union of Human Rights Activists stated that the Taliban's dominance has deprived Afghanistan of participation in the United Nations General Assembly over the past four years and has turned the country into a scene of the darkest crimes and violence.

These activists emphasized that over the past four years, the Taliban have deprived women of education, work, and their human rights. Additionally, they have arbitrarily detained, tortured, or executed citizens and, through forced displacement, violation of civil liberties, and the imposition of poverty and migration, have destroyed the lives of millions of people.

The statement emphasized that Afghanistan needs the establishment of a new, justice-oriented nation-state; a government in which the name, national identity, and political and social structure are fundamentally reconsidered.

In conclusion, the Union of Human Rights Activists has called on the international community to stand with the Afghan people in the path of justice, freedom, and the reconstruction of a nation-state, instead of legitimizing or engaging with the Taliban.

The Union of Human Rights Activists, in a statement, says that the Taliban are not representatives of the Afghan people and should be tried in international courts for their crimes.
