US envoy describes US withdrawal from Afghanistan as a complete disaster

Mr. Boehler stated that the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan was based not on a specific timeline but on the conditions in the country.


However, he emphasized that his criticism was not from a political perspective but based on objective realities.


He said: "Everyone agreed that what we were doing wasn’t working. The decision to leave, based on a specific timeline rather than the actual conditions [in that country], created an uncontrollable disaster."


This U.S. official noted that the consequences of such an event have led to broader developments, including the war in Ukraine and the rise of groups like Hamas.

Adam Boehler, the U.S. Special Envoy for Hostage Affairs, criticized the manner of the U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan during the Aspen Security Forum, calling it a complete disaster.
