National TV broadcasts halted in Paktia; Taliban ban live broadcasts

According to a statement from this institution, the Taliban have instructed the national media in Paktia not to air any images of living creatures, and this has led to the complete suspension of the television's activities, transforming it solely into a radio outlet.

The Journalists Center states that the Taliban have also asked their local officials to refrain from any video interviews and to submit their reports only in audio or written form.

According to this center, this new restriction has not only disrupted the broadcasts of National Television but has also impacted the video productions of the state news agency Bakhtar, as well as the social media activities of local publications and radios "Nan," "Zwand," "Hava," "Patan Ghag," and "Samkani Ghag."

The Afghanistan Journalists Center has condemned this action by the Taliban and called on them to lift the media restrictions.

Meanwhile, the Taliban ban on airing live images has been implemented not only in Paktia but also in 22 other provinces.

The Afghanistan Journalists Center has announced that the broadcasts of the National Television under Taliban administration in Paktia Province have been halted following the issuance of an order banning the airing of images of living beings.
