Taliban execute 11 people in Badakhshan and Sar-i-Pul

On Wednesday (29 Asad), the court stated in a newsletter that 10 individuals were punished in Badakhshan for "illicit relationships."


According to the newsletter, these individuals were sentenced to imprisonment ranging from eight months to four years and received 21 to 39 lashes in public.


Additionally, the Taliban's Supreme Court announced in another newsletter that one person was sentenced to two years in prison and 39 lashes in the Shahr-e Buzurg district of Badakhshan province on charges of "sodomy."


Since returning to power in August 2021, the Taliban have resumed public corporal punishments.


Over the past four years, the Taliban have consistently reported the execution of floggings for defendants on various charges.


The United Nations and human rights organizations have criticized these punishments and called for their cessation, but the Taliban have not yet backed down from this practice.

The Taliban's Supreme Court has announced that 11 individuals in Badakhshan and Sar-e Pol provinces have been publicly flogged on various charges.
