US and India emphasize continuation of trade talks

Wednesday, September 10, Trump wrote in a post on the social media platform “Truth Social”: “No obstacle can prevent the two countries from reaching a successful agreement.” He also announced plans to hold talks with Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Narendra Modi, in a post on the social media platform X, described the United States and India as “close friends and natural partners” and expressed confidence that the ongoing negotiations will unlock the boundless potential of bilateral cooperation. According to him, the negotiating teams of both countries are working to achieve positive results as soon as possible.

Modi emphasized that New Delhi and Washington will collaborate to build a brighter and more prosperous future for their people.

These statements come amid rising trade tensions between the two countries following the imposition of new tariffs by the Trump administration. Washington, after an initial 25 percent tariff, imposed an additional 25 percent tariff on imports of Indian goods, a move that U.S. officials say is in response to New Delhi’s continued purchase of oil from Russia.

Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, has announced that despite the increase in customs tariffs on Indian goods, trade negotiations between Washington and New Delhi will continue.
