Two US National Guard soldiers shot by an Afghan citizen

According to police, the shooting occurred after noon on Wednesday and came to an end when other National Guard forces, upon hearing the gunfire, subdued the suspect at the scene. The mayor of Washington has described this incident as a "targeted shooting."

Several news networks, including Fox News, CBS, and NBC, have reported that Laknwal entered the United States in 2021 on a humanitarian visa.

Meanwhile, John Ratcliffe, director of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), has stated that Laknwal had previously collaborated with U.S. government entities in Afghanistan, including the CIA, and that his relocation to the United States in 2021 was justified based on this cooperation. He emphasized that "this individual should never have been allowed entry."

At the same time, Donald Trump, President of the United States, has described this shooting as an "evil and terrorist act" and promised that the suspect "will receive the highest possible punishment." Following these remarks, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services agency has announced that processing of all Afghan immigration requests has been temporarily halted until new security reviews are completed.

American media have reported that two members of the United States National Guard were shot and seriously wounded on Wednesday in Washington D.C., less than two blocks from the White House. The suspect in this incident has been identified as Rahmanullah Laknwal, a 29-year-old Afghan citizen.
