Wall Street Journal: Trump in talks with Taliban to return Bagram base to US military presence

This news network stated that Adam Boehler, who traveled to Afghanistan a few days ago alongside Zalmay Khalilzad, is the main person responsible for advancing this mission.

According to the Wall Street Journal report, Adam Boehler, Trump's special envoy for hostage affairs, is leading these talks with the Taliban. These discussions, in addition to the matter of Bagram, include prisoner exchanges, a potential economic agreement, and security cooperation between Washington and the Taliban.

Earlier, Donald Trump, the President of the United States, had spoken about efforts to retake Bagram Air Base during a joint press conference with Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister of Britain.

The Wall Street Journal, citing its own sources, wrote that the Taliban has not yet agreed to any of the proposals put forward by the United States, and everything remains at the level of talks.

Trump has also highlighted the strategic importance of Bagram and stated that this base is only about an hour away from an area where China is building nuclear weapons.

The President of the United States has previously repeatedly harshly criticized the Biden administration for abandoning Bagram and said that this decision has been detrimental to America's security interests.

The Wall Street Journal, citing its own sources, has reported that the United States is in talks with the Taliban for a return to Bagram Air Base with the re-presence of American forces.
