More than 7,000 Afghan migrants deported from Iran and Pakistan in one day

According to this commission, these migrants entered the country on Friday (September 25).

The press release states that 5,875 migrants were deported from Pakistan and another 1,242 from Iran.

International organizations have described the mass deportation of Afghan migrants from Iran and Pakistan as contrary to international laws.

The United Nations Security Council has also stated that the continued flow of Afghan migrant deportations from neighboring countries has complicated the process of providing humanitarian aid.

According to a report by the International Organization for Migration, more than 1.5 million Afghan citizens returned to the country from Iran and Pakistan in 2025. The organization has emphasized that returnees are at risk of persecution and torture, cruel and inhuman punishments, and irreparable harm.

The government of Pakistan had previously announced that the process of forcibly deporting approximately 1.4 million Afghan refugees would resume once again. This decision was made after the Pakistani government refused to extend the residency deadline for these refugees.

This new decision by the Pakistani government has increased the danger and uncertainty for journalists, civil society activists, human rights defenders, former military personnel, and other vulnerable Afghan refugees in Pakistan.

The Taliban's Commission for Handling Migrants' Issues announced in a press release that 7,117 Afghan migrants were deported from Iran and Pakistan in a single day.
