At least 10 million people in Afghanistan need humanitarian assistance to survive.

This UN-affiliated organization, on Sunday (12 Asad), published a note on the social media platform X, stating that returning women and children have been the most affected.


The World Food Programme emphasized that with each passing day, the hunger crisis in Afghanistan deepens. According to the organization, two out of every three female-headed households are unable to meet basic food needs, and 3.5 million children are suffering from malnutrition.

This comes as poverty, unemployment, and destitution have sharply increased since the Taliban’s return to power.

The World Food Programme has warned about the escalating hunger crisis in Afghanistan, stating that it needs 539 million dollars to address the needs of those affected over the next six months.
