Children are starving to death; Aid agencies warn of deadly famine in Gaza

The statement, signed by organizations including "Doctors Without Borders," "Save the Children," "Norwegian Refugee Council," and dozens of other non-governmental organizations, emphasizes: "Children are dying of hunger while waiting for promises that are never fulfilled. The lack of consistent aid delivery means more deaths due to diseases that are easily treatable."

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, since the onset of the conflict in October 2023, dozens of people, mostly children, have died due to malnutrition.

Israel has previously identified the Hamas group as the main cause of the obstruction of aid routes, claiming that the group seizes aid and uses it for military purposes; however, Hamas has rejected this claim.

Israeli authorities have also stated that a significant amount of humanitarian aid has been sent to the Gaza Strip; however, relief organizations and several Western countries have emphasized that the amount of food and medicine entering, under Israel's severe restrictions, covers only a tiny fraction of the people's actual needs.

Meanwhile, the United Nations World Food Programme has warned that the risk of widespread famine is imminent, and nearly 70,000 children in Gaza require urgent treatment for acute malnutrition.

More than 100 international humanitarian organizations, in a joint statement on Wednesday, expressed concern over the critical humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, calling on the Israeli government to end the blockade of the region, allow the full entry of food, clean water, and medical supplies, and agree to an immediate ceasefire.
