Taliban Ministry of Defense announces dispatch of aid team to earthquake-hit areas

The ministry, on Monday, 10 Sunbula, released an image reporting the deployment of aid teams to earthquake-affected areas, including Nangarhar and Kunar.


The Taliban Ministry of Defense states that aid is being provided to those affected by the earthquake.


The Taliban-managed Disaster Management Authority announced that nearly 500 people were killed and at least a thousand others injured following last night's deadly earthquake in Kunar.


Sharafat Zaman, the spokesperson for the Taliban Ministry of Health, wrote in a post on the X network on Monday (10 Sunbula) that as a result of this earthquake, several villages in Kunar have been completely destroyed.


According to him, a large number of people are still trapped under the rubble, and there is a possibility of an increase in casualties.


Meanwhile, the Taliban governor's office in Nangarhar stated that at least 9 people were killed and several others injured due to this earthquake.


This comes as last night, an earthquake measuring six on the Richter scale, along with aftershocks, struck parts of Afghanistan, including Kunar, Nangarhar, Laghman, and Kabul, causing heavy casualties in Kunar and Nangarhar.

The Taliban Ministry of Defense announced in a statement that the group's army rescue and aid team has reached the eastern provinces.
