At least 42 Afghan asylum seekers, including 17 children, detained in Türkiye

According to this report, these migrants, who lacked the necessary legal documents, have been transferred to the Foreign Nationals Deportation Center in Canakkale.


Turkey's Ministry of Interior recently announced that since the beginning of this year, more than 30,000 Afghan refugees have been identified and detained in various cities of the country.


According to the ministry, Afghan citizens top the list of detained refugees, followed by citizens of Syria, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran.


Turkey has accelerated the process of detaining and deporting Afghan citizens in recent weeks.

Turkish media have reported that 42 Afghan refugees, including 17 children, have been detained by the Turkish Coast Guard in the Evacik coastal area of the city of Canakkale.
