US urges citizens to leave Syria immediately as tensions rise

The embassy, on Monday (July 21), through the release of a statement, advised American citizens to use the land border with Jordan to exit Syria.

The statement reads: "Due to the suspension of the United States Embassy’s operations in Damascus since 2012, the U.S. government is unable to provide any consular services, whether routine or emergency, within Syria."

It was also emphasized that the Czech Republic, which acts as the protecting power for the United States in Syria, has only very limited capacity to provide consular services to American citizens.

This warning comes amid ongoing tensions and insecurity in parts of Syria, posing risks to civilians, particularly foreign nationals.

The United States Embassy in Damascus has issued a warning statement urging all American citizens present in Syria to leave the country as soon as possible.
