Nurse killed in Nangarhar; Taliban announce arrest of two

Syed Tayyab Hammad, on Monday (13 Asad), added in a published newsletter that investigations into this matter have begun, and after the completion of the investigations, the suspects will be handed over to judicial and legal institutions.

Local sources in Nangarhar said on Sunday (12 Asad) that unidentified armed individuals near the Taliban command in Jalalabad city killed a woman named Ziba, who was a healthcare worker, by shooting her.

However, the motive for this murder and the identity of the suspects have not yet been officially clarified.

But the spokesperson for the Taliban security command added that this woman was killed by her husband due to domestic violence.

He stated that the nurse intended to divorce her husband, but her husband opposed this decision and, in exchange for money, killed her.

However, Ziba’s family has not yet commented on this matter.

Based on reports, domestic violence in the country has previously claimed many victims.

Furthermore, after the Taliban’s return to power and the imposition of extensive restrictions on women, reports of increased violence against female healthcare workers have been published.

The spokesperson for the Taliban police command in Nangarhar announced that two individuals have been arrested on charges of murdering a female nurse in this province.
