Hebatullah Akhundzadeh held a consultative meeting in Kandahar

According to sources, the meeting began on Saturday, 12 Mizan, and one of the main topics on its agenda is the discussion of the fate of the Bagram Airbase.

Sources state that, in addition to the discussion about Bagram, several other topics, including strategies for communication, reform plans, and guidelines for dealing with officials who do not fully comply with central directives, are also included in the meeting’s agenda.

Quoting the aforementioned sources, the Taliban leader intends to provide specific recommendations during this meeting regarding structural changes in the group’s internal management and the manner of communication with local institutions.

The Taliban leadership office has not yet issued an official response regarding the holding of this meeting. However, sources emphasize that the potential decisions from this meeting could have a direct impact on the leadership composition and the administration of various regions.

This meeting is taking place amid concerns among the Taliban leadership, as sources say, sparked by recent statements from some U.S. officials about the possibility of American forces returning to the Bagram Airbase. CNN had previously reported that some former and current U.S. officials have been exploring the option of retaking Bagram in recent months, a report that provoked strong reactions from some Taliban figures.

Fasihuddin Fitrat, the Chief of Staff of the Taliban’s army, in response to these reports, stated that the Taliban is not willing to relinquish “even an inch of Afghanistan’s soil” to foreign forces.

Meanwhile, Tajmir Jawad, the deputy head of Taliban intelligence, has also warned in a speech that in the event of what he called a “foreign invasion,” the Taliban would resort to using suicide attacks.

Additionally, Hamdullah Fitrat, the deputy spokesperson of the Taliban, recently released a video reciting poems with themes of military retaliation, although the same video emphasized that the Taliban remains committed to peace.

Local sources add that the Kandahar meeting could determine the course of regional decision-making and the Taliban’s leadership structure, especially if Hibatullah Akhundzada issues executive guidelines for provincial structures at the conclusion of the meeting.

Reliable sources confirm that Hibatullah Akhzada the leader of the Taliban, has summoned senior officials of the group, including governors and district administrators, to attend three-day meeting in Kandahar.
