Natural Disasters; UN Warns of Potential Deadly Earthquakes in Afghanistan

OCHA, on Tuesday (31 Saratan), wrote in a note on the platform "X" that preparedness saves lives and reduces costs.


The agency stated that over the past ten years, more than 600,000 people in Afghanistan have been affected by earthquakes.


According to OCHA, in the event of a potential 7.6-magnitude earthquake in Kabul, more than 10 million people could be directly impacted.


The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs added that its humanitarian partners, including the Red Cross, UN agencies, and local organizations, are working to strengthen response capacities, train rapid response teams, establish emergency warehouses, and prepare at-risk communities.
