Russia emphasizes the need for ethnic participation in Afghanistan's power structure

Mr. Lavrov stated that the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization are in agreement on the necessity of creating an Afghanistan free from terrorism and drugs.


He added on Tuesday, at the conclusion of the meeting of foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in China, that "almost all members of this organization have strengthened their bilateral relations with Kabul and emphasize the importance of effective assistance in the reconstruction and sustainable development of Afghanistan as an independent, neutral, peaceful country free from terrorism and drugs."


The Russian Foreign Minister once again emphasized the need to "ensure ethnic and political participation in power structures" while recently the Taliban regime was recognized by Moscow.

Sergei Lavrov, Russia's Foreign Minister, on Tuesday, at the meeting of foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in China, called for the formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan.
