Taliban asks Kazakhstan to officially recognize the group

The Taliban embassy in Kazakhstan announced in a statement on Wednesday (18 Saratan) that Mohammad Rahman provided information during the meeting about the situation of migrants, investment opportunities, and the recent floods in Afghanistan.

According to the statement, Yerkin Tokumov emphasized the expansion of bilateral relations and affirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to political, economic, and cultural cooperation with the Taliban.

It is noteworthy that Kazakhstan, following Russia, has removed the Taliban from its list of terrorist groups.

Although Kazakhstan has established good economic and trade relations with the Taliban over the past four years, it has not yet officially recognized the group.

Mohammad Rahman, the Taliban ambassador in Astana, in a meeting with Yerkin Tokumov, Kazakhstan’s special representative, requested that the country follow Russia’s lead and officially recognize the Taliban.
