Public flogging; Taliban punish 15 in Kabul, three others in Paktia

The court stated in a press release on (Thursday, 3 Qaws) that these individuals were sentenced to 10 to 39 lashes as punishment and also received suspended prison sentences ranging from six months to four years.


According to the Taliban's Supreme Court press release, the Primary Anti-Narcotics Court in Kabul sentenced 15 people to flogging for selling and trafficking tabletka, tablet zikab, alcoholic beverages, and hashish.


Additionally, the court announced in a separate press release that three other individuals in the Janikhel district of Paktia were flogged by the Primary Court on charges of using counterfeit money.


Despite repeated objections from international organizations to corporal punishment and torture, the Taliban continues to flog individuals and describes this action as the implementation of "Islamic Sharia" directives.

The Taliban's Supreme Court has announced that 15 people in Kabul were flogged on charges of selling and trafficking narcotics, and three others in Paktia were flogged for using counterfeit money.
