US Immigration Service stops processing immigration applications from Afghan citizens

This authority stated in a statement on (Thursday, November 27) that this suspension will continue until the completion of a comprehensive review of security protocols and background checks of applicants.

The statement emphasized: "The protection and security of the country and the people of America remain our primary focus and sole mission."

Following this incident, which resulted in severe injuries to two members of the U.S. National Guard, American officials announced that the process of reviewing immigration requests from Afghans requires a renewed security assessment.

Donald Trump, President of the United States, described this shooting as an "evil, hateful, and terrorist act" and stated that the suspect "will receive the highest possible punishment." He also called for a review of the status of all individuals who entered the United States from Afghanistan during the Biden administration.

The U.S. Immigration Authority has announced that, following a shooting by an Afghan citizen toward two National Guard soldiers in Washington, the review of all immigration requests from Afghan citizens has been urgently suspended until an unspecified time.
