Taliban bans romantic poetry and criticism of Hibatullah

This ministry announced on Saturday (August 29) that this law has been published in the official gazette after approval by Hibatullah.

In this law, poets are asked to refrain from criticizing the "decrees, directives, rulings, and decisions" of the Taliban leader. Additionally, writing romantic poems and praising the beloved has been declared prohibited.

In paragraph seven of article five, it is emphasized that poetry must be free of "illusory love, unjust desires, and misplaced emotions," and poets should avoid praising "boys and girls or inviting relationships and friendships with them."

Additionally, the Taliban have described schools of thought such as feminism, communism, democracy, and nationalism as "un-Islamic ideas" and warned that poets should not address these concepts in their poetry.

In this law, citing hadiths, it is stated that poets have the responsibility to defend Islam with their poetry and interpret Sharia rulings.

The Taliban have warned that in case of violation by poets, speakers, and organizers of poetry recitations, they will be punished in accordance with Sharia rulings.

The Taliban's Ministry of Justice has announced that Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of this group, has approved the "Regulation of Poetry Recitations" law within the framework of an introduction, two chapters, and 13 articles.
