A young Afghan man was arrested in France on charges of collaborating with ISIS Khorasan.

According to Agence France-Presse, this individual is accused of sending money to ISIS-Khorasan and playing a role in the dissemination and translation of the group's propaganda.

France's National Counter-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office has announced that this man has been charged with "collaboration with a criminal terrorist organization and financing of terrorist acts."

Reports indicate that this youth was "openly committed to jihadist ideology" and has been pursued due to his connections with ISIS-Khorasan, particularly through the transfer of funds and the distribution of propaganda.

According to reports, this individual was arrested on October 26 in the city of Lyon, France, by agents of the General Directorate for Internal Security at a migrant residence.

The newspaper Le Parisien reported that this man had entered France several years ago and had previously been under legal investigation for "glorifying terrorism." Based on investigative findings, he edited and published ISIS-Khorasan propaganda on social media platforms such as TikTok and Snapchat.

Olivier Christen, France's counter-terrorism prosecutor, had previously stated in September 2024 that the jihadist threat accounts for about 80 percent of the cases handled by the National Counter-Terrorism Office, and that terrorism-related activities had tripled over the past year.

French media have reported that France's National Counter-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office has arrested a 20-year-old Afghan youth on charges of collaborating and communicating with the Khorasan branch of the Islamic State group.
