Ishaq Dar arrives in Kabul for talks with Taliban officials

According to Pakistan's Foreign Ministry, Ishaq Dar is scheduled to meet with Mulla Mohammad Hassan Akhund, the Prime Minister, Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Deputy for Economic Affairs, and Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban's Foreign Minister, during this one-day visit.

The discussions will focus on expanding bilateral cooperation in the areas of security, trade, regional connectivity, and people-to-people relations.

Ishaq Dar's visit comes at a time when tensions between Kabul and Islamabad have escalated due to cross-border attacks and the activities of militant groups.

Pakistani officials have repeatedly accused the Taliban of providing safe haven to the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, an accusation the Taliban has rejected.

This is the second visit by a Pakistani Foreign Minister to Kabul since the Taliban's return to power in 2021. Previously, Shah Mahmood Qureshi visited in October 2021, and Hina Rabbani Khar traveled to Afghanistan in 2022.

Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan's Foreign Minister, arrived in Kabul this morning (Saturday, 29 Hamal) at the head of a high-level political and diplomatic delegation. This is his first official visit to Afghanistan since assuming the role of Foreign Minister, and it was made at the official invitation of the Taliban.
