Trump: New York Mayor Must Respect Washington to Succeed

Trump stated in an interview with Fox News that he is willing to meet and discuss with the new mayor; however, he warned that if relations with Washington are ignored, New York may be deprived of important financial and executive support from the central government.


He added: "Washington plays a big role in New York's success, and the mayor must understand this fact. Respect and cooperation are the key to progress."


Trump's remarks come as Zohran Mamdani, a progressive politician and critic of some federal government policies, has recently been elected as New York's new mayor.

Donald Trump, President of the United States, has emphasized that Zohran Mamdani, the newly elected Mayor of New York, can only succeed in managing the city if he maintains cooperation and mutual respect with the federal government in Washington.
