Taliban Leader: No Islamic country has a Sharia system other than Afghanistan

He urged the clerics to be resolute in implementing Sharia rulings and to "accept influence from no one, not even from me." According to the Taliban spokesperson, at the end of this meeting, the mullahs once again pledged allegiance to him.

Akhundzada also called on the religious scholars to address the topic of "Greater Imamate" in their study circles and to make Muslims aware of the "existence of a legitimate Imam."

His remarks have provoked reactions. Bashir Ahmad Ansari, a researcher in religious studies, said these statements amount to "declaring war on 57 Islamic countries"; because Akhundzada has effectively declared himself the Imam of the Islamic Ummah.

Mohammad Mohaq, a prominent religious scholar, also described these statements as "wrong and ambiguous" and said that according to Islamic tradition, the caliphate had been established until the early 20th century, and the claim of the absence of a legitimate Imam is incorrect.

In this speech, the Taliban leader also defended the implementation of strict Sharia punishments, including executions and public floggings, and praised the Taliban judges for "enforcing Sharia."

Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban, stated in a meeting with mullahs and religious scholars in Kandahar that only Afghanistan under Taliban rule possesses a "true Islamic system," and no such system exists in other Muslim countries.
