UN announces that funding for aid to migrants returning from Iran and Pakistan has run out

This organization, on Sunday, 26 Asad, expressed concern in a statement, saying that returning migrant families face an uncertain future in Afghanistan under Taliban rule.

The spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General previously stated that four years after the Taliban’s return to power, more than half of Afghanistan’s population is in need of urgent humanitarian assistance.

Stephane Dujarric, referring to the increasing number of returnees to Afghanistan, said that needs are rapidly escalating, and most returnees are struggling to find shelter and economic opportunities.

He also added that since the beginning of this year, 1.7 million Afghan citizens have returned to the country from Iran and Pakistan.

This comes as Iran and Pakistan have significantly increased the detention and deportation of Afghan migrants in recent months.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees announced that the budget for aiding migrants returning from Iran and Pakistan is running out.
