Wave of killings continues; former soldier shot dead in front of his mother

According to sources, this incident occurred on Thursday (30 Asad) in the Khairkot district of Paktika province.


Based on the information from sources, this former military officer had been disabled in his hands and feet due to an explosion during his service under the Republic government.


The killing of former military personnel by the Taliban and unknown individuals is not unprecedented; reports indicate that over the past four years, hundreds of former military officers have been detained, tortured, and killed by the Taliban.


Although the Taliban announced a "general amnesty" after their return to power, the United Nations and human rights organizations have repeatedly documented the detention, torture, and killing of former military personnel.

Reliable sources in Paktika confirm that a former military officer named Rahmatullah was gunned down by unknown assailants in front of his mother.
