Taliban whip 11 people in public in Kabul and Baghlan

On Tuesday, 25 Sunbula, the Taliban's Supreme Court stated in a statement that ten individuals in Kabul city were tried for selling and smuggling alcoholic beverages and narcotics, receiving between 10 to 39 lashes. Additionally, these individuals were sentenced to imprisonment ranging from 10 months to two years.

In another statement, the Taliban's Supreme Court said that one person in the Khost district of Baghlan province was convicted of "establishing an illicit relationship" and, in addition to one year of imprisonment, received 35 lashes.

The Taliban consider any interaction between unrelated men and women to be against religious values and "moral corruption," and in numerous cases, they have publicly punished individuals. The group states that the purpose of such punishments is to "serve as a lesson for others."

In contrast, international human rights organizations have repeatedly condemned such actions by the Taliban, describing them as clear violations of human rights. According to these organizations, defendants in Taliban courts are deprived of access to lawyers and fair judicial processes, and corporal punishment is considered a form of torture.

The Taliban's Supreme Court announced in a statement that eleven individuals in Kabul and Baghlan provinces have been publicly flogged on various charges.
