Trump orders military deployment to Portland

Trump stated that he has ordered the military to send its forces to protect the immigration administration centers in the city of Portland, Oregon. He emphasized that military forces should use "all their power" to defend against domestic threats if needed.

In response to this decision, Kate Wilson, the mayor of Portland, announced: "The number of necessary forces in Portland or any other American city is zero." She added: "Trump will find no lawlessness or violence here; unless he intends to create it himself."

According to a Reuters news agency report, violent crimes in Portland have decreased during the first six months of 2025; the murder rate has dropped 51 percent, from 34 cases to 17 cases.

Tensions in some major U.S. cities escalated following the recent deadly attack on the immigration administration office in Dallas; in this incident, one person was killed and two were injured.

Donald Trump, President of the United States, announced that he has asked Pete Hegseth, the Secretary of War, to deploy all necessary forces to protect the city of Portland and federal immigration centers, which, according to him, are under attack by Antifa and other "domestic terrorists."
