Sources: Taliban arrest civil activist in Balkh on charges of receiving UNAMA funds

According to sources, the Taliban have accused him of receiving funding from the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) to advance social and human rights programs.

Sources add that Ansari disappeared in Kabul a month ago, and his family only became aware of his detention after a week had passed.

According to sources, Hamid Ansari was responsible for an organization active in the field of education and peace promotion in Balkh.

His associates say his activities were primarily focused on youth education and social programs.

The Taliban have not yet provided any official explanation regarding this matter.

Local sources in Balkh say that Taliban intelligence fighters have detained Hamid Ansari, a well-known civil figure in the province.
