Sarah Adams: US still financially supports Taliban

She emphasized that the Taliban are not adhering to the Doha Agreement, yet the U.S. government continues to provide financial support to this group.


On Sunday, (23 Sunbula), Ms. Adams, while sharing an image of a meeting between Adam Boehler and Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Taliban's deputy for economic affairs, wrote that Baradar has not adhered to the Doha Agreement and had no intention of implementing it from the outset.


Adams also stated that Abdul Ghani Baradar’s daughter is married to the nephew of Osama bin Laden, the former leader of the Al-Qaeda network, adding that these relationships and facts are overlooked during negotiations between the Taliban and Washington.


The former CIA officer wrote: “Trump never followed through on his threats to bomb Abdul Ghani Baradar’s house, and even after the Taliban were involved in the Abbey Gate attack, in which 13 of our bravest forces were killed, they are still being paid as if that tragedy never happened.”


Sara Adams also described Zalmay Khalilzad, the former U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation and the chief architect of the Doha Agreement, as well as Washington’s policies toward the Taliban, as “the architect of the worst Taliban lobbying in American history,” emphasizing that he has once again entered negotiations on behalf of the American people.


She added that the majority of the U.S. government has no intention of stopping the funding of the Taliban, and the American people have been “deceived” if they believe this trend will change.


These statements come as an American delegation, led by Adam Boehler and Zalmay Khalilzad, arrived in Kabul yesterday and met with Taliban officials, including Amir Khan Muttaqi, the foreign minister, and Abdul Ghani Baradar, the deputy for economic affairs of the Taliban’s caretaker government.

Sara Adams, a former Central Intelligence Agency () officer, has criticized the policies of the United States government, pointing to the visit of an American delegation to Afghanistan.
