Internet outage at Islam Qala border leaves migrants stranded and aid services paralyzed

Local sources report that the lack of internet has rendered all border computer systems inoperable, forcing officials to carry out many tasks manually—a method that is both time-consuming and has led to increased confusion among migrants.

Due to this disruption, some aid offices have also suspended their operations. As a result, a large number of migrants have been deprived of cash assistance and aid packages. These aids are typically provided after digital registration, but now, with the systems halted, the distribution process has reached a deadlock.

Local sources further note that many employees of responsible institutions have left their posts due to their inability to continue working. This situation has further exacerbated the livelihood challenges and uncertainty faced by migrants.

Stranded migrants at the border are now demanding the immediate restoration of internet services and the resumption of normal service delivery. They warn that the continuation of this situation will lead to serious humanitarian consequences.

The widespread internet outage at the Islam Qala border has not only disrupted administrative processes but also severely impacted the lives of thousands of returning migrants.
