Explosion in Indonesia; More than 50 worshippers injured

According to Al Jazeera, this explosion occurred today (Friday, 16th of Scorpion) at noon, during Friday prayers, inside an educational complex in the "Kelapa Gading" area in northern Jakarta.


Indonesian police have announced that the injured have been transferred to the hospital, and the condition of several of them has been reported as critical. Police officials say that the cause of this explosion is still under investigation.


Eyewitnesses have said that they heard the sound of two successive explosions at the same time as the start of the Friday prayer sermon.


Images published in Indonesian media show that the damage at the scene of the incident was extensive.

International media have reported that following an explosion in a mosque in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, 54 people have been injured.
