Taliban: The rights of all citizens of Afghanistan are guaranteed according to Islamic Sharia.

These statements come at a time when international human rights organizations and human rights defenders have consistently criticized the Taliban for widespread violations of Afghan citizens’ human rights.

According to a statement from the Taliban’s Ministry of Justice, Abdul Hakim Sharia participated in the thirteenth session of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum in Russia on Monday, 29 Sawr.

The Taliban’s Minister of Justice emphasized at the forum that the group’s regime has transformed prisons into centers for reform, education, character-building, and religious awareness.

However, this claim is made while reports indicate that prisoners in Taliban jails have been subjected to torture, harassment, and even sexual assault. This Taliban official also stated at the forum that the group is ready to engage and cooperate legally with any country or organization that respects Islamic values, the territorial integrity, and the independence of the Taliban regime.

These statements come at a time when religious scholars have consistently criticized the Taliban’s un-Islamic and inhumane actions, stating that the Taliban’s actions not only fail to align with Islamic standards but also violate Islamic laws and Sharia.

Abdul Hakim Sharia, the Taliban’s Minister of Justice, claimed during his speech at the thirteenth session of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum that the group’s laws are based on Islamic Sharia and that everyone’s rights are protected under them.
