UNAMA: 72 anti-Taliban attacks recorded in three months

The Afghanistan Liberation Movement also took responsibility for three attacks in April, while 11 other attacks were recorded without a specified perpetrator.

The United Nations has confirmed three attacks, which targeted, respectively, the Ministry of Interior in Kabul, the Nejrab district in Kapisa, and the Bagram airfield in Parwan. The exact casualty figures for these attacks have not been determined.

Armed groups opposing the Taliban accuse the group of violating human rights, suppressing civil liberties, and running an exclusionary, mono-ethnic regime without public participation. These attacks are seen as part of a scattered resistance following the fall of Kabul in August 2021.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has reported that between February and the end of April 2025, the National Resistance Front and the Afghanistan Freedom Front carried out a total of 72 initiatives against the Taliban. Of these, the National Resistance Front was responsible for 56 attacks, and the Freedom Front was responsible for 16 attacks.
