US Congressman Calls for Afghan People to Rise Against Taliban Rule

Mr. Burchett, in an interview with CNN, stated that the time has come for the people of Afghanistan to revolt against the Taliban and establish a government they truly need.


He criticized U.S. aid to Afghanistan under Taliban rule, adding that not even a single cent should be sent to this country.


Burchett’s remarks were part of a report published by CNN about the consequences of cutting U.S. aid to Afghanistan.


He said: “I have great sympathy for the people of Afghanistan, but I think the time has come for them to rise up and build a government to replace the Taliban that they truly need.”


In response to the cessation of U.S. aid, Tim Burchett added that “America is not the World Bank to send aid abroad.”


This comes as the U.S. congressman had previously introduced a bill calling for a halt to cash aid to the Taliban and preventing this group from accessing those funds.

Tim Burchett, a U.S. congressman, has called on the people of Afghanistan to rise up against the Taliban regime and overthrow this group from power.
