Taliban announce arrest of six people accused of drinking alcohol in Baghlan

Saif-ul-Islam, the ministry's spokesperson, stated that these individuals were caught drinking alcohol at a guesthouse.

The ministry's press release stated that the detained individuals, in addition to consuming alcoholic beverages, also engaged in other "un-Islamic acts"; however, no details were provided in this regard.

According to the Taliban, after preliminary investigations, these individuals were handed over to judicial and legal authorities.

It is worth mentioning that following the ratification of the "Law on Promotion of Virtue" by the Taliban leader, the ministry's officials have gained extensive powers to inspect, prosecute, and impose restrictions on the country's citizens.

The Taliban's Ministry of Promotion of Virtue officials have imposed strict restrictions on the attire, movement, and behavior of citizens in most provinces. If an individual commits an act that this group considers contrary to Sharia, they are punished, even if that act is not considered a crime under prevailing laws.

The Taliban's Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has announced that six individuals have been arrested in the village of Dara-e-Ashiqan, Tala wa Barfak District, Baghlan Province, on charges of consuming alcoholic beverages.
