UN: More than 12,000 Ukrainian civilians killed or injured in first 10 months of the year

According to the "United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine," since the start of Russia's invasion in March 2022, more than 53,000 civilians have become victims of the war, with more than 14,500 of them having lost their lives. Approximately 65 percent of the casualties are in the Kherson, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions.

The organization also reported an increase in attacks on energy infrastructure and warned that power outages on the eve of winter pose significant risks to the population, especially the elderly, people with disabilities, and families with young children.

The United Nations emphasized that it will continue to cooperate with humanitarian organizations to deliver aid to war-torn areas. Russia currently controls about 19 percent of Ukraine's territory and has launched new operations to capture the cities of Pokrovsk and Kupyansk.

The United Nations reported that in the first ten months of this year, more than 12,100 civilians in Ukraine have been killed or injured as a result of Russian attacks; a figure that represents a 27 percent increase compared to last year.
