Zamir Kabulov announces upcoming Moscow meeting with Taliban presence

Kabulov stated: “We have already discussed and exchanged views with our like-minded regional partners and the Russian ambassador to Afghanistan regarding the potential content of these consultations and further coordination for joint actions. Afghanistan will also participate in this meeting as a full member.”


It is worth noting that the sixth Moscow Format meeting was held in October 2024 in Moscow with the participation of special representatives and senior officials from Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.


Zamir Kabulov also stated that the Taliban should be supported so that the group can “successfully suppress small pockets of international terrorism.”


Meanwhile, Gul Hassan, a Taliban diplomat, arrived in Moscow on Tuesday, 1 July. According to TASS, Zamir Kabulov announced that this Taliban diplomat will be officially accepted as an ambassador after completing the necessary formalities and protocols.

According to Russia’s TASS news agency, Zamir Kabulov, Russia’s special representative for Afghanistan, announced that the next meeting of the “Moscow Format” on Afghanistan will be held in September or October 2025.
