Mohammad Agha Saylani, Afghan journalist detained in Pakistan, released

Sources close to the journalist have confirmed that he was released by Pakistani authorities on Thursday, 1 Aqrab, and is now in good condition.


Sailani is among the journalists who sought refuge in Pakistan after the Taliban came to power and was living in Islamabad. He was detained during a Pakistani police operation targeting Afghan migrants.


On Wednesday, 30 Aqrab, the Afghanistan Media Support Organization, in a statement, emphasized the need to respect media freedom and the rights of Afghan refugees.


The Afghanistan Media Support Organization has called on the Pakistani government to prevent humiliating treatment and arbitrary detentions of Afghan refugees and to provide them with a safe and free living environment.

Mohammad Agha Sailani, an Afghan journalist who was recently detained by Pakistani police in Faisal Town, Islamabad, has been released.
