More than 1,000 families deported from Iran and Pakistan in one day

According to the report, the highest number of returning families entered through the Islam Qala border in Herat province, totaling 932 families. Additionally, 70 families entered through the Torkham border, 20 families through the Spin Boldak border in Kandahar province, 85 families through the Pul-e Abrisham border in Nimroz province, and one other family through the Bahramcha border in Helmand, entering Afghanistan.


The deportation of Afghan migrants from Iran and Pakistan has intensified in recent months, and according to Taliban officials, over one million Afghan migrants have been deported from Iran in the past three months alone.


According to reports, in the past year, thousands of Afghan families have been forcibly deported from neighboring countries without prior notice or necessary preparations, an action that has worsened the humanitarian crisis at the borders.


Iranian and Pakistani authorities have cited economic problems, illegal residency of migrants, and security concerns as reasons for these actions.


This is while Afghanistan, under Taliban rule, is facing a profound economic crisis, widespread unemployment, and the collapse of the public services system. Most returning families lack shelter, financial resources, and access to basic healthcare and educational services. Many of these families have lived in neighboring countries for years and are now being returned to Afghanistan in difficult and uncertain conditions.


Human rights and aid organizations have repeatedly warned about the humanitarian consequences of widespread migrant deportations and have called for a halt to this process and the provision of immediate assistance to returning migrants.

The Bakhtar News Agency, affiliated with the Taliban, has reported that in the past 24 hours, at least 1,108 Afghan migrant families have been deported from Iran and Pakistan and have entered the country through border crossings.
