Rawalpindi Police Form Special Force to Arrest Afghan Refugees

According to the published information, this security unit consists of 13 independent operational groups, each composed of police forces, officers from intelligence departments, representatives from counter-extremism institutions, and urban assessment experts. These teams are tasked with conducting daily operations in various areas to identify individuals without valid documents.

One of Rawalpindi's senior police officials told the media: "The creation of this structure is part of the government's new program to accelerate the process of identifying and transferring migrants who lack legal documents. Previously, operations were slow and scattered; but now, specialized teams will take direct responsibility for this matter."

According to reports, members of this unit are not permitted to carry out other military or security missions, and their duties are solely limited to inspecting, detaining, and transferring undocumented migrants to holding centers. Additionally, new forms have been designed and provided to the teams for registering the details of detained migrants, their places of residence, and their transfer status.

In recent days, the forces of this unit, along with traffic police and other security institutions, have conducted extensive operations in several urban areas. Reports indicate that so far, at least 92 individuals without valid residency documents have been detained in these operations. At the same time, official cases have been opened against a group of property owners who have failed to register their tenants' details in accordance with the law.

These measures are taking place at a time when, in recent weeks, pressure on Afghan migrants in Pakistan has intensified, creating widespread concerns among migrant families.

Pakistani media have reported that in the city of Rawalpindi, a new operational unit has been established with the aim of identifying and detaining migrants lacking legal residency documents. This decision has been made as part of the Pakistani government's new policies for managing and expediting the deportation process of foreign nationals.
