Diplomatic sources: Taliban diplomat received at Afghan consulate in Hyderabad, India

According to sources, the Taliban's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has appointed an individual named Mohammad Rahman as its diplomat in this consulate.

Indian media, quoting their sources, have reported that Mohammad Rahman has taken over the responsibility of the Afghan consulate in Hyderabad since June 2025.

They added that Sayed Mohammad Ibrahimkhail, the former consul of the Republic in Hyderabad, has been transferred to the embassy in New Delhi and continues his activities there.

An Indian official told the IANS news agency: "Such appointments indicate that the Taliban wants to maintain diplomatic contacts with Delhi."

According to him, it is possible that by the end of the current year, the Taliban will also take control of the embassy, which is currently managed by Sayed Mohammad Ibrahimkhail as the acting head of the embassy in Delhi.

It is worth mentioning that over the past four years, India has established close relations with the Taliban; however, it has not yet officially recognized this group.

Diplomatic sources confirm that India has handed over the Afghan consulate in Hyderabad, India, to the Taliban.
