Airstrikes escalate in Russia and Ukraine; civilians targeted

Ukrainian officials in Kyiv announced that Russian missile and drone strikes on civilian areas of the capital left at least four people dead and several others wounded.

Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv's military administration, stated that the targeted sites included public infrastructure and residential units, describing the action as "deliberate conduct against ordinary civilians."

On the other side, Russian officials also reported casualties from Ukrainian drone strikes. According to a Reuters news agency report, three people were killed and more than ten others wounded in southern Russia. These attacks affected areas in the port of Novorossiysk and the cities of Rostov-on-Don and Krasnodar, inflicting extensive damage on residential buildings and urban facilities.

Russia's Ministry of Defense announced that during this operation, approximately 249 Ukrainian drones at various points across the country—including over the Black Sea and in southern Russian regions—were targeted and shot down. The governor of Rostov also reported the destruction of several buildings, including a warehouse, an industrial workshop, and a cluster of homes.

Officials in the Krasnodar region described this attack as "unprecedented and prolonged," adding that additional facilities and residential complexes were also destroyed.

These events signal an escalation in a fresh round of mutual attacks that have severely impacted not only the military frontlines but also urban infrastructure and civilian life.

Last night's aerial clashes between Russia and Ukraine once again resulted in civilian casualties and dramatically escalated tension levels on the battlefield.
