Earthquake in Eastern Afghanistan; Iranian Ambassador to Kabul Goes to Kunar

The Embassy of Iran in Kabul, on Tuesday, September 1, in a note on X, stated that Mr. Bikdeli traveled to Konar for the purpose of delivering the Islamic Republic's aid and assessing the needs of the earthquake-affected people.


Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, had previously expressed condolences to the victims of the recent earthquake in eastern Afghanistan in a message.


President Pezeshkian also announced the Islamic Republic's readiness for any cooperation, relief efforts, and sending humanitarian aid to the earthquake-stricken areas.


Following the occurrence of a deadly earthquake on the night of Monday, August 31, in eastern Afghanistan, at least 800 people have been killed and more than 2,500 others injured.


The Taliban have also announced that the death toll is likely to increase.

Alireza Bikdeli, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic in Kabul, traveled to Konar to examine the provision of assistance to the victims of the recent earthquake in eastern Afghanistan.
