Pakistani media: Taliban's arguments in Istanbul talks are illogical and far from ground realities

According to the report, on the second day of these negotiations, Islamabad's final stance was presented to the Taliban, and the group was asked to take concrete and decisive actions to eradicate terrorism.

However, Geo News, quoting its sources, stated that it appears the Taliban are pursuing a different agenda that is not in the interest of stability in Afghanistan, Pakistan, or the entire region.

The Pakistani media outlet emphasized that progress in the negotiations depends on the Taliban's approach to the talks.

However, no further details were provided regarding which aspects of the Taliban's arguments were deemed illogical by the Pakistani delegation.

Meanwhile, the Taliban have submitted their initial proposal regarding the cessation of border conflicts to the Pakistani delegation.

It is said that the proposal emphasizes preventing violations of Afghanistan's territory and airspace and stopping the use of Pakistani soil by opponents of the Taliban (referring to ISIS).

The Taliban claim that the Pakistani government has provided safe havens for ISIS within its territory and is using them against the group.

In contrast, Pakistan claims that militants of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have taken refuge in Afghan territory; however, the Taliban have rejected this claim, asserting that Afghan soil poses no threat to any country.

Pakistani media, citing security sources, have reported that the arguments presented by the Taliban negotiating delegation at the Istanbul meeting were illogical and far removed from ground realities.
