Sayed Rashed Kashfi released from Taliban prison after six months and 18 days

This organization wrote in a note on its Facebook page on (Saturday, October 31) that Keshfi has been released from Taliban prison after six months and 18 days.

Syed Rashid Keshfi was detained by Taliban intelligence near his home in Kabul in the month of Aries this year. He had previously been detained by the Taliban in 2021 and subjected to torture and beatings.

Keshfi collaborated with several media outlets, including Kabul Times and Rasa Television.

It is worth noting that since returning to power, the Taliban have imposed extensive restrictions, bringing Afghanistan's media space under severe control and censorship. Journalists and media workers have repeatedly been detained, tortured, and imprisoned for publishing reports contrary to Taliban policies.

According to official reports, at least 10 journalists and media workers, including Shakib Ahmad Nazari, are currently in Taliban detention.

The Free Journalists Union of Afghanistan has announced that Syed Rashid Keshfi, a journalist detained by the Taliban, has been released from prison.
