Moscow: Taliban and Pakistan should resolve their differences through political means

Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the ministry, said on Monday that political and diplomatic dialogues are the only way to overcome differences between Kabul and Islamabad.

She added that the commitment of the Taliban and the Pakistani government to resolving disputes through political means is "a foundation for lasting peace between the two countries friendly to Russia and an important factor for regional security."

This stance comes as the Taliban does not consider groups like the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to be terrorist and views their demands from the Pakistani government as legitimate.

Yaqub Mujahid, the Taliban Defense Minister, also stated in an interview with Al Jazeera that Pakistan and some other countries use the "terrorist" label for political purposes.

The Russian Foreign Ministry, welcoming the ceasefire agreement between the Taliban and Pakistan, called on both sides to cooperate in the fight against terrorism.
